Disaster recovery planning is designed to prepare crisis plans for recovery of critical areas.

From a practical point of view, recovery planning in case of a crisis consists of developing complex, written procedures, which are to be executed during and after interruption of continuity. Such procedures are often called emergency procedures/plans or DRP. Such plans are prepared based on interruption of continuity risk evaluations i.e. little likelihood risks with significant outcomes for the company.
